Promise of Spring
-28 February, 2010, Arnprior, Ontario, Canada.
The above photo doesn’t quite capture the feeling, but there is just the faintest trace of Spring in the air this morning.

Gas Prices Again
-Sunday, 28 February, 2010:
Change:
Full Service:
- McEwen (+Ethanol) Madawaska Blvd 96.9 per litre.
- (Stinson (+Car Wash) Madawaska Blvd. No change. 97.5)
All Self Service Stations except Petro Canada are at 96.7. Petro Canada is at 96.9.
Remember: Planets manufacture oil through a process we do not understand, but this process does not rely on decaying dinosaurs or other organic matter. Spectral analysis of distant planets and moons reveal that they contain oil.
There are more oil reserves Now than there was 20 years ago and consumption of oil and oil products has doubled in that time.

Heavy Wet Snow
Friday, 26 February, 2010:
I believe we got about 15-20 cm of heavy wet snow yesterday, the bulk of it falling in the evening.
It wasn’t pretty, it still isn’t.
I might have gotten a more spectacular photo earlier, when the heavy trucks were doing their thing.
It’s about +2˚C at 11:00 am, and is a lot more sloppy and wet than anything else.

Snowy Thursday
– 11:33 am, Thursday, February 25, 2010.
The temperature dropped 3 degrees from 0˚C to -3˚C between 8:30 and 9:00 am. The weather network has changed their forecast a couple times. They’re still forecasting a high of +1˚C with rain mixing with the snow. But their Storm Centre is calling for 5-10 cm of snow in Ottawa and 15-25 cm of snow in Pembroke, and we’re about halfway between the two.
Time might tell?

Changing the Face of Arnprior
Sunday, February 7, 2010.
With the work going on to bring Highway 17 through Arnprior as a Multi-Lane Limited acces highway (two lanes in each direction) some new hills are growing around the highway’s changing configuration. Hills, where the landscape was pretty much flat last year. Here are a couple.
-Took these before I heard about Ottawa’s CTV affiliate’s Newsroom being gutted by fire over night . This morning at about 11:30 A.M. (maybe an hour after I took these photos) a power plant in Middletown, Connecticut blew up. Middletown, Connecticut looks an awful lot like Pembroke, Ontario.

Ottawa Television Studio “Gutted” by Fire
Sunday, February 7, 2010.
At about 10:30 A.M. I turned on the television to check something and saw headlines on the CTV News channel: CJOH (Ottawa’s CTV Station) Newsroom gutted by fire.
Long time News anchor Max Keeping was being interviewed live, spoke of 50 years of priceless archived video footage being lost.
— Probably be more later,
